Italian-Americans are one of the largest groups to immigrate to America and were the single largest group of immigrants to come through Ellis Island.
(2019 Celebration feature presentation) In celebration of Italian heritage, we have invited best-selling Author Dianne Hales to Sacramento to discuss her newest book, “La Passione, How Italy Seduced The World”. On October 13, Dianne will take us on an exploration of how the Italian passion for life has inspired the world - NO country has matched Italy’s impact on culture. Whether its love of food or wine, art or opera, Roman temples or Renaissance masters, cinema or a Ferrari, these achievements stem from “la passione Italiana”, the passion to discover and create. Dianne guides us through the riches of Italian culture and essence of the spirit of Italy, its history and its people. Dianne was knighted by the President of Italy for her previous book ‘La Bella Lingua.” Copies of her books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
Another tradition of our heritage celebration is the Olive Oil Tasting with featured olive oil vendors invited to this special event. “Olio d’oliva” (olive oil) also know as “liquid gold,” is an integral part of the Italian diet. Vendors Bella Grace, Chef’s Olive Mix and Olive Drop Co. will have olive oils for tasting and purchase during the event.
AND-DON’T FORGET YOUR APPETITE!
A buffet lunch prepared by Society volunteers includes ravioli by the Pasta Queen and wine by Andis Wines served on our lovely Italian Center patio facing Carmichael Park.
Reservations are encouraged!
